4 Ways To Take Control Of Your Life Now

          People ask me all the time: "Daniel...how did you make such drastic changes in your life so quickly?" They ask because I went from an average employee lacking happiness, focus, and direction, to a 33% raise, a promotion, and then to owning my own business in the span of 6 months.

          The trick is to MAKE the change you want to see in your life, and it isn't as hard as it seems. You have power over everything in your life...you just need to learn how to use that power to get the changes you want. Here are 4 things you can change in your life right now to get yourself on the right track.

1) Change Your Mind

The first change HAS to happen inside of you. If you don't take responsibility for what you have, you give up your power to control it. Most people go through life blaming other people for what they have or don't have, blaming their circumstances, their bad luck, their lack of talent. If you're one of these people, then you've got to make this change NOW.

You want to change your mind and take complete control over your decisions and your outcomes. Start believing that you've brought yourself exactly where you are in life, and that you will be the one who brings your life anywhere in the future. Change your mind about who and what has the power over your life and you instantly take control. Never give up that control. If you feel it slipping away, come back and read this to convince yourself that it's all on you.

2) Change Your Focus

Most people focus on the negative. If you wonder why the news is filled mostly with horrible things, this is why. We tend to focus on the negative naturally. Change this! If you condition yourself to see the bad in everything, YOU WILL FIND IT. Conversely, if you train yourself to see the good in everything, you will find that instead.

This can take weeks of practice before you start seeing the results, but it's worth it. It's worth that time and energy because everything in life has a good side and a bad side. Anything at all can be viewed from one of those two perspectives: positive or negative. If you train yourself to see the negative, you'll never see the opportunities that are all around you. But if you train yourself to see the positive...then you start seeing opportunity everywhere, even in things that once would've only brought negativity to your life. Focus on the positive, never the negative.

3) Change Your Surroundings

Given that we just spoke about negative things in your life, this should come as no surprise: there are people and things around you now that shouldn't be there. When you're ready to make an enormous change like I did, you'll find that there are some things in your life that you need to let go of. It may be difficult, but in the long run, those things will only drag you down. You want only things in your life that inspire you and push you to be the best version of yourself that you can.

You'll find negative things and time-wasters, like TV, social media, news, etc. But you'll also find that there are plenty of negative PEOPLE around you too. It's hard sometimes to let people slip out of your life, but everything negative must go. If you look around you and see only things that drag you back to the person you used to be, let those things slip away from you.

4) Change Your State

After how difficult the last one might have been for you, this one will be nice and easy. You want to control your attitude like I mentioned before and change your mind, but one of the best ways to do that is to change your state.

If you don't pay much attention to your state already, start! You'll find that when you feel down and upset, your body mimics that state: you shoulders will droop, your face is dull and lacking energy, and you probably look down more often than up. To change this, come up with a motion to let your body know it's time to get in the zone and change your state.

I beat my fist on my chest and scream, "YES!" Instantly I can feel energy flowing through me. I do that a few more times and I am in the zone and ready to tackle anything that comes my way. Do something like this to change your state, to put yourself in the perfect position to take action and begin taking control of your life.

          Beginning to change your life is really as simple as these four things, and you'll notice that you can do every single one of these things right now. The secret to changing your life is starting today...there's no better time to start building the future you want and deserve.
